Esperance: a Tiny Town with a welcoming band, a fun playground, and (yes, really) Target!

admin / February 27, 2018

We were welcomed into the little town of Esperance, Australia by this band playing the ever-popular “Waltzing Matilda”, the unofficial Australian national anthem.  These gentlemen were very entertaining.  They sang and called out to the cruise passengers on, urging us to come ashore.  Of course, eventually we did.  And what we found, was a very small, but very friendly town.  Honestly, there wasn’t that much to do, but we are never without the creativity to find something to do.

The day’s adventure included our discovery of a lovely park, apparently designed to be accessible to handicapped kids, but we enjoyed it anyway.  Everybody else was in school, so we had the whole playground to ourselves.

You can see how much fun we swinging and bouncing to our hearts’ content.
After all the playground fun we could handle, we walked a few blocks to a chicken restaurant that was kind of like KFC.  The chicken and “chips”, as they call fries here were good, and we were ready for the afternoon.  Unfortunately, we saw no grand adventure.  So we made one.  We went to a pharmacy to buy some bandaids, and discovered a Target, a small version of the Target stores at home.  So we shopped till we dropped.  Camden and Kloee got some cute new Australian clothes, and we all went back to the ship.
Our adventure continues…..
Blessings,
Linda

  1. Fantastic! A Target…whodathought! A fun and ‘hope-filled’ town to visit. Keep enjoying and know we’re praying for you. Please keep Tom Hardy in your prayers, in hospital with pneumonia. He’s in good spirits.
    Blessings in Jesus,
