Munich – Snow, Swans, and a Palace

admin / March 23, 2018

We started our day in Munich with a visit to the Marianplatz, the main square downtown.  We stopped to visit the Mariansaule, a monument erected by the townspeople during the Middle Ages in thanks to God for rescuing them from a plague.

Church was starting at the cathedral, so we dropped in for a beautiful musical mass there.

Then we headed across town to see the palace, Nymphenburg.  This was the summer palace of the royal family of Bavaria.  It is situated in a lovely park, and all of Munich seemed to be out for a stroll.  We toured the palace.  It is furnished and filled with interesting art.

The girls really enjoyed all the snow in the palace park.  Can you tell we are from California?

  1. We took a vote and four of us have never been to the snow, 18 of us love playing in the snow and one of us doesn’t like snow at all….me. 🙂 I grew up with snow so I’ve had enough to last me all my life.
We are so glad you all got to see such beautiful palaces.
