Our last full day in Munich featured a trip out of town to the monastery, Kloster Andechs.
Situated on top of a hill in a tiny little Bavarian village, the Benedictines in Andechs brew beer. How very German of them!
In the classic Benedictine tradition of hospitality, they also serve delicious food in their beer hall. We had a wonderful lunch there. We also saw the baroque church, and walked around the grounds.
Carl Orff is interred in the church.
We were not able to find out the story behind his connection to Andechs. Something to research later.
We also don’t know why a monastery has a playground, but we enjoyed it very much.
It seems like you get to see lots of playgrounds. We are having fun visiting them all with you. Or at least wishing we could… 🙂
