We had a chance to stop in Athens on our way to Israel, so of course we took advantage of it. Our visit was brief, but we are really glad that we made the extra effort.
We arrived in Athens in the early afternoon, and dropped our luggage at the Athens Airport Sofitel. We jumped in a cab and headed straight for the Parthenon. We got a good look at this incredible icon of Western Civilization.
We found a very special roof-top restaurant for an unforgettable dinner, wandered through the Plaka to do a little shopping, and caught a cab back to our hotel for an early bedtime. Our flight to Tel Aviv was due to take off at 7:00 in the morning.
