We arrived in the Tel Aviv airport right on schedule at about 9:30 AM, and we cleared immigration within an hour. Usually that is a good thing. In this case, maybe not. As it turns out, we were arriving in Israel during the annual Jerusalem Marathon. The event involves over 300,00 people, and stops traffic all over Jerusalem until the early afternoon. The driver that we had hired to drive us from the airport texted to inform us that there was no way to get from the airport to our hotel in the old city until at least 1:00, so we should just wait for him in the airport until then. OK. We got lunch and looked around a bit to pass the time. Before we knew it, the time had passed, and we were on our way.
Our hotel was in a great location, just inside the Jaffa Gate in the old city of Jerusalem. It was old, slightly exotic, historic, noisy, and the Christian owners were very gracious. We loved it because being there was an adventure in itself!
That is super cool. Especially since we just learned about Jesus being in Jerusalem during Holy Week. We are really loving all your photos.
